Greasy hair, what now?

If your hair gets greasy very quickly (even within a day), you're not alone. There are ways to manage it! I will give you some tips & tricks for a clear, effective strategy to help reduce oiliness and stretch time between washes:

But first, what causes (quick) greasiness?

Over-washing triggers your scalp to produce more oil.

Using harsh shampoos strip natural oils, causing overproduction.

Touching your hair too often transfers oil from hands.

Heavy products and hormones/stress/diet.

🧼 How to wash your hair:

1. Shampoo Correctly

  • Start with washing your scalp! every other day (or daily if really needed) and gradually stretch time between washes. The ideal time between washes is 2/3 days.

  • Use a clarifying shampoo once per week.

  • Massage your scalp only, don’t pile all your hair up and scrub. Your hair doesn’t need to be washed, your scalp does! Do this twice, so pre-wash first, rinse and then a thorough wash.

  • Rinse thoroughly, leftover product causes more buildup wich means quicker greasy scalp.

    2. Avoid Conditioner at the Roots

  • Apply only to the ends.

  • Use lightweight, oil-free formulas.

  • Rinse out completely. It needs to feel dry, thats when you know you rinsed your hair properly.

Don’t airdry your hair, this also causes a quicker greas build up. Just dry your hair with a blowdryer on low/medium heat. Do not forget to use a heat protector.
